Games » Underworlds Review

The iPhone has seen a bunch of different RPGs come and go through the appstore. Some have hit the top spot in the most downloaded and some have been overall flops. But one thing is true, the genre is not a dead one. The latest RPG to head through AppVee's watch is Underworlds. This hack-n-slash RPG provides all the potions, level-ups and questing. It has been compared as a smaller version of Diablo.

Characters can be customized with different abilities depending on the preference of the player. Different equipment and customizations can also be applied to even further augment your character's abilities. I'm not particularly partial to RPG's and as such my opinion could be slightly biased when reviewing this game.

In the time I had to play through and experience what the game had to offer, the entire feel was actually pretty great. I noticed some lag and then found that with the 3.0 update, turning off music would fix the problem.

The game can be controlled by touching on the screen or a virtual joystick can also be added to give more of a handheld feel to the game. The controls worked great and the layout worked well with the iPhone. The only issue I had was the occasional problem using my feats as the buttons did not seem to register.

The game itself easily has hours of gameplay and there is promise of more to come in the later updates. The price has recently gone down on this app making it a great buy for someone looking for a well-made RPG. If that someone happens to be you, check this app out. It has some great content and plays wonderfully.
