Uno has finally made its glorious transition to the iPhone and iPod Touch thanks to the developers over at Gameloft. Everything that you know and love about this classic game has been carefully crafted into this digital version with the same great gameplay and tense final-card callouts. The game kicks off everything with some great graphics and crazy technopop music to set the happy tone. Players are given the option to play a quick match or enter a singleplayer or multiplayer game. One nice feature is the ability to play a multiplayer game over wifi, on one device, or online via wifi.
The game runs extremely smooth, with the animations and interface complimenting the card game never getting in the way. Tapping your hand will enable the selection of cards where you can then lay the card of your choosing.
There's really not much to say about the actual game since everyone and there mom has most definitely played this game. For this review I brought in a veteran of casual card games, my girlfriend, and had her play through a couple of games to see if it would appeal to the casual gamer. It definitely did and she had no problem picking it up and playing without any instruction. There is a feature in the game that allows players to unlock different backgrounds in the game by completing different modes and challenges. Although this was a nice feature, there wasn't too much incentive.
Overall, if you are an UNO fan, this app is a must buy for you. It runs great, has online multiplayer via wifi and is still regarded as one of the best party card games to many. Check it out, you won't regret it.
