Vision Board is an application for the iPhone and iPod Touch that allows you to make a collage of notes and pictures to customize and view as you please. It looks like just another notes app, but the developer has somewhat different intentions.

I never quote the iTunes description directly, but I feel obligated to quote one line which will help you to understand the purpose of this app. The developer states, "It is important to really use the exact image of what you want to attract, as whatever you show on your Vision Board will become part of your reality!". The purpose of the app is to put down all your goals and dreams in one place so you can look at them daily to help you stay on track in life. It's an interesting concept, but the application isn't without some problems.

The app offers four different colored boards to post your notes on, silver, red, tan and blue. You can post typed notes on one of five different styles of stationary and there are three boards in all. I was able to fit twelve notes on each of the three boards. That's 36 notes total, right? The iTunes description says the app can only handle 27.

When you add a note you are given three basic options. You can add a photo from your library, type your own "affirmation", or choose from an available list of "affirmations". When you post to the board your note or photo is tacked up in nice, neat rows and columns. You cannot move the notes around to exactly where you want them.

After you've posted all of your 36 or 27 notes, you can slide from one board to another with the swipe of a finger left or right. When you tap on a note or photo, a nice animation magnifies that note to full screen where you have the option to delete or edit. That's it. After you post your notes, you either read them, delete them or make more.

My problems with this app are its lack in customization and features. There are only four colored backgrounds to choose from and you can't use your own photos as a background image. The notes look pretty nice on the board, but you can't move them around to exactly where you want. Also, the text is really small and a pinch-to-zoom feature would have been nice to make certain notes bigger than others. Maybe one goal in your life is the priority and should look larger than other, less important goals. Also, photos are squished into a tiny box and ratios are not preserved, so they are distorted when posted to the board.

This app really does have great potential. Whether you use it as a notes application or simply a place to look at your life goals, it's nice to be able to step back a bit and see the big picture. I think with a few improvements this app will really succeed. I'd keep an eye on it and see what the next update brings before you make the purchase.
