Google Voice is a revolutionary new service that is trying to take phone numbers and make them personal. Each user selects their personal phone number and that number calls all your phones or just some of them depending on what you choose. I'm not going to go into detail about the service because that is not the point of the review.
The service is in beta right now and as such only a select few have access to its features. But if you happen to have access to the service or just want to be ready for when it goes public, there are a few apps out there that are preparing. One of these apps is VoiceCentral. VoiceCentral connects with your Google Voice account and gives you access to most of the features that you would want. Users can check their voicemail, view a history of calls received, dial out, and more. The app is acting as an all-in-one go to application for your Google Voice needs.
Looking at the voicemail tab, users can hear the voicemail as well as see the transcription of the message right in the app. The app basically offers you Google Voice conversations at a glance.
Editing different settings and making customizations to voicemail messages are not currently supported by VoiceCentral but it would not surprise me to see these features added once the service goes public. Overall, the app is really only limited by the current status and limitations of the service itself. So reviewing this has been hard but the app does what it claims to do.
If you happen to be lucky enough to have a Google Voice account, check out VoiceCentral. It makes checking your Google Voice account much easier from your iPhone or iPod Touch.
One nice feature of Google Voice is the ability to screen calls with ease, so if you're interested, give me a call sometime. I can't guarantee I'll pick up, but I'll definitely get your message.
