Zephyr is another musical app from Smule, the creators of the Ocarina. With Zephyr you have a chance to draw a message in the snow while creating freeform music that will accompany it as it is sent around the world.
This app is really simple and uses the global interface that all other Smule apps seem to use, except this is the main part of this app. Where the other Smule apps have a different screen that allows you to interact with the app before seeing the rest of the world do so, Zephyr handles everything on one screen. When you load up the app you?ll be presented with the global view. Here is where you?ll be able to make a message or view other messages.
To make a message just start drawing on the screen. Your lines are made using snowflakes and each flake creates a sound.
Those sounds ring together creating a pretty cool effect that accompanies your message. Once you?re done, you send off your message and someone else gets to enjoy what you?ve created. You can also listen to and see messages made by others from around the world. Not only do you get to see them being drawn out but you also get to see where the message has been before it made its way to you.
Zephyr is a cool app that is definitely worth the price to play around with. It?s no Ocarina, but it?s definitely a neat approach to making music and sending messages across the world. It feels like more of a feature we?d expect to see as part of a bigger Smule app, but on its own it?s definitely still an app that can hold its own.
