Zombie Mansion is a first person shooter for the iPhone and iPod Touch. Compared to the other first person shooters we?ve experienced on these devices, this game feels more like an early 90?s game similar to Heretic or Hexen.
This game manages to make the same mistake that so many iPhone and iPod Touch games have made recently. That is, the story line is all but absent from the game. Even after reading through the description, you still have no idea why you?re trapped in the mansion and where you got your magical wand. Granted, most first person shooters lack a good story, but considering you start out in a locked cell with no real direction or reasoning, it?s definitely frustrating.
The controls for this game work pretty well. They?re static buttons on both sides of the screen.
The game responds a lot better to tapping on the button then dragging your finger around the d-pad. Because of this, your movement will be a little choppier, but it won?t really effect your game play. The objective of this game is to make it from your cell in hall all the way through the mansion and to the attic. On your journey through those five levels you?ll fight different monsters, find keys to open doorways, and even get some power-ups.
Zombie Mansion is an interesting game, but when it comes down to it, the game doesn?t bring anything new to the table. You spam the same fire button over and over again as you fight through a poorly lit zombie mansion that you have no idea why you would even be locked in it in the first place. While there are different difficulty levels that could extend your time with the game, the developers are asking too much and providing too little.
